On February 21, 2018, a kick –off meeting was held in Brussels to launch the CEN Workshop on Industrial Symbiosis. The event marked the start of standardization activities on industrial symbiosis, the aim of which is to develop a deliverable, a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA), which documents a consensus on best practice methodologies supporting industrial symbiosis implementation across Europe and beyond. The workshop gathered 44 representatives from industry, public sector and research organizations from 10 members states, Switzerland and Turkey.
Industrial symbiosis will shape future policies, reports and recommendations of the European Commission and will have large impact on economy, businesses and the environment across Europe and beyond.
The aim of this Workshop is to support the effective adoption of industrial symbiosis by the public and private sector, and to advance toward mainstream use.
You can contribute your experience to shape the CEN workshop agreement (CWA) going forward by registering for participation in the CEN process (»Registration form« ).
The secretariat of this CEN Workshop is held by the Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST), and supported by the Horizon 2020-SPIRE projects SHAREBOX and EPOS, and the Interreg Europe projects TRIS and SYMBI.
