The Report ends up with a presentation of key findings of the research in three sets.
The first set, “Use of standards and their impact on the operation of Slovenian
companies”, defines the role of standards in individual companies, presents the
impact of standards on competition, growth of innovation and relations within
the value chain. The chapter also describes in more detail the non-monetary
benefits of using standards and defines the role of language in Slovenian
standardization. The second set, “Slovenian standardization, positioning of SIST
and opportunities for strengthening its role”, presents the present function
of SIST in Slovenia, and opportunities to improve its services. The chapter also
presents new fields to which SIST could extend its offer. The third set,
“Participation of Slovenian companies in the standardization process”,
highlights the decision-making and technical levels at which Slovenian
companies are involved in standardization. The reasons why some companies
do not get involved in this process are presented, and the chapter also presents
the positive effects on operation of the companies who participate in the
standardization process.

Follows a chapter with six case studies of good practices and the opportunities for
standardization in our environment. Two companies – ETI and Cosylab – were looked
into in more detail, while four other standardization fields – cyber security,
sustainable development and transition to green and circular economy, “blockchain”
technology, and the Slovenian education system – were still at the design stage.

In conclusion, the Report summarizes the key findings and delivers
recommendations for the performance of SIST in the future.
