The results of processing the questionnaire (see Chart 18) show that the companies
participating in standardization are allowed access to information that would
otherwise not be accessible to them. Such companies can therefore develop their
market by influencing the properties of new standards. In this way they allow
themselves to promote their own interests as well as their industry’s interests
at the international and national level. And the companies participating in the
standardization process agree in particular that such participation ensures them
an early awareness about the future of market regulation and about the development
trends in their own industry.
In the future, the companies expect from SIST an even greater support in
exploiting the opportunities of international collaboration. The members are
relatively satisfied with the administrative and formal support of SIST. What they
wish for is easy registration and/or greater support in their own user experience,
and a wider range of areas in which SIST is involved. The members only show their
dissatisfaction in the case they have to pay for travel expenses when attending
the meetings of international and European organizations. They see a solution in
greater support of the State, and in new and more favourable statutory provisions.
With greater financial support, the interest of companies and thereby the strength
of the Slovenian economy would be greater as well. SIST could even take over the
management of an international or European TC secretariat.
