5 Key Findings

This chapter contains the results of in-depth interviews and of the survey,
and a presentation of examples of good practices.

5.1 The use of standards and their impact on the operation
of Slovenian companies

Slovenian companies, regardless of size and market orientation, use standards
in their operations. If, during the time before Slovenia achieved today’s level of
internationalization, the use of standards was still the choice of each individual
company, in the last twenty years, this has become an obligation rather than
choice. Nowadays, a company cannot operate without implementing the
appropriate standards.
An analysis of the research results has proven that Slovenian companies note
positive effects of standardization in various business areas. In the Slovenian
economy, standardization has gained a positive role. Chart 2 shows the average
values of several variables, which together measure the impact of standardization
on various segments. The key findings of the research confirm the findings of
foreign researchers – in particular the BSI research. In a further analysis of the
results, the areas shown in Chart 2 are processed in more detail.
